A couple months back I caught Anil Kapoor on a rerun of Martha Stewart.  Anil-ji appeared on The Martha Stewart show early last year as did Aishwarya Rai. Dosto, dekh at the ladies get their craft on:

I’m still working on uploading my photos from my recent trip to Mother India and I’ll post a link to them soon. In the meantime I’d like to share the filmi related photos from the trip. This first photo I’ve included here may not appear too filmi, yet it is and I’ll tell you why. Have you seen the classic film Deewaar? If so, wouldn’t you think of the wild factory fight scene from the film if you found yourself in any type of factory or warehouse in India? I know I did! In case you need to be reminded, here’s that scene:

india0809-3412 Here I am touring Noni’s factory in Ludhiana. His favorite actor is Sunny Deol. Noni spoke of high thinking and simple living and did not attempt to fight me in the factory, which is always a possibility for any fan of Sunny Deol, who is really a fighter on screen. Instead of fighting, he was a very gracious host, yet after seeing so many fight scenes in factories in Bollywood films, I had to be prepared. I look all peaceful here, but if need be, I would have taken him down along with all the workers! Believe that! O.K, not really.

The Bollywood star who I saw the most on billboards during my trip was Abhishek Bachchan. He was advertising a cell phone company and these billboards were everywhere:

Sometimes there were just billboards of Abi scowling, like this one. Grrrrrrrr:

Karisma (look hard and you can see her in the top left of the photo) and Kareena, were also being used to endorse beauty salons and crackers, as in the small explosive devices. Somehow I don’t think the Kapoor sisters were aware of their images being used here.

Finally, I found Shilpa Shetty selling Vodka. Isn’t that rather racy for India? From afar I thought it was an ad for perfume, or maybe some kind of energy drink, but closer inspection revealed it was for vodka! Can a nice Indian girl endorse liquor?

I came across The Unforgettable Tour site today and my mind wandered with possiblities.  Would I ever attend this tour?  Which city would be the best place to see the tour?  Would YOU go to this tour?

There is some question about who will participate in this tour. Salman Khan was considered at one point? Is Lara Dutta out?  Is Akshay Kumar in?

roscoe.jpgWith a heavy heart I dedicate these videos to Roscoe, a great cat who is now in a better place, if there is a better place than sitting comfortably on a couch watching great movies. I was lucky to have the company of Roscoe while watching many Bollywood movies and will miss him a lot, as will his keeper, mere dost, Tim. Tim provided Roscoe with a lavish lifestyle, usually reserved only for human royality. The videos today are from movies I watched with Roscoe. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai  (1999) starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Salman Khan. Alka Yagnik singing “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” :

And if you want to cry some more, this ought to help. Here’s a lovely song from a sad scene from the movie Guru (2007), which Roscoe also saw. In this scene are Aishwarya Rai , Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachchan and the song is “Shauk Hai” by plack singer Sowmya Raoh written by A. R. Rahman, so get a tissue before watching.

Thanks to hyderabadiyt for the youtube video. To hear full song click HERE. Lyrics posted by nevil .

Rest in Peace Roscoe Alevizos.

Today’s video has the following in commom from yesterday’s video: A. R. Rahman‘s music and Aishwarya Rai ‘s dancing.

From  guru2.jpgGuru, (2007) “Tere Bina”, another beautiful song from A. R. Rahman,  with lyrics by Gulzar, and I admit it brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it, and still can. A. R. Rahman &  Gulzar, sure can manipulate the tears from my eyes, damn them! I wonder if I actually understood more than a few words in Hindi if the song would have more or less influence? I also love the dialogue at the end of the scene:

Sujata (Aishwarya Rai ) : “Fight with the whole world, but not with me.”

Guru (Abhishek Bachchan: If you’re with me, I can beat the whole world.”

So I challenge you to watch and NOT cry, can you? Well maybe men can, but ladies?

It was also fun to see Mithun Chakraborty in the movie as the journalist, a bit of a departure from his character in Dance Dance and Disco Dancer .
