Amitabh Bachchan was in my dream & I serenaded him with KANK!

In this magic season of Christmas I was visited by Amitabh Bachchan  in a dream. Maybe it’s because I’d recently seen him in Desh Premee (1982), where he looked like Jesus and it’s Jesus’ season. Maybe it’s that buzz around the Bollywood Blogosphere about a possible North American Bollywood Bloggers trying to get together sometime in the future. But do I really need an excuse from my  delicate reality to justify this dream?  NAHIN!

800px-kank_poster

amitabhbachchan31THE dream: I was in some hotel room in an American city, on a floor with a view of a downtown evening skyline. The hotel room and Amitabh were like these pictured; current, hip, and urban. In the room were bollywood bloggers extraordinaire, theBollywoodFan, Memsaab, and blog poster, Jen. We were sitting around talking film, philosophy, and current affairs with Amit-jiWe weren’t star struck, just talkin’ with our filmy friend, chicago-skyline-viewwho was warm and chatty.  Then Mr. Bachchan had to leave and as he exited, I thought it was finally safe to act silly, so I started singing Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, the title track from the film I was trying to be funny, since it translates to  Never Say Good Bye.  I  didn’t think Amitabh could hear, but he peeped his head back in and then left, listening to me sing:

Tumko bhi, hai khabar, Mujhko bhi hai pataa
you and I know
Ho raha, hai juda, donon ka, raasta
that our paths are separating
Door jaake bhi mujhse, tum meri yaadon mein rehna
you’ll live in my memories even after you’re gone
Kabhi Alvida na Kehna
never say goodbye
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

So enjoy today’s video, KANK,  inspired from the movies into my dreamworld and back to reality. The music is by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy & the playback singers are Sonu Nigam & Alka Yagnik. It’s picturized on some people yet to appear to me in a dream:  Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta & Abhishek Bachchan.

LYRICS with English translation

If you’d like a MORE dramatic intro. to the movie, and understand I’m saying MORE dramatic even in Bollywood terms, try this link, but I’m warning you, be careful!

I suppose this means I have to take a good look at my life and make sure it’s properly balanced with adequate doses of reality and not too much film. Have you had a dream where you were hanging out with one of your Bollywood favorites?  Do tell dosto.

I’d noticed that several of the Bollywood Insider reports posted in the past would become unavailable.  Then last week on once such post I was lucky enough to get a comment from Suzi Mann-ji herself:

Firstly thanks for posting our Bollywood Insider videos really appreciate the coverage given. Just to let you know we have contract terms of 30 days with youtube after this period the videos are removed. They are however available on MSN, Blinx, AOL, Bebo, My Space and a number of other sites independently. Many sites do still line them from youtube. BI is a weekly made for mobiles and online show therefore if you could kindly link it weekly that way you’re subscribers won’t miss out.  Enjoying the comments.

Kind regards

Suzi

How exciting to get the news about the best ways to link to the videos directly from Suzi herself!  And thanks to Suzi Mann for working hard to keep us all up on the latest Bollywood news!

Amitabh Bachchan to leave hospital in few days!

A belated Happy Birthday to Amitabh Bachchan!

After heading over to his blog, I noticed it was rather quiet, but a quick internet search revealed that he’s been ill. I know it’s very upsetting to hear, but even though he’s ill, Amitabh wants you to calm down, see:

MUMBAI (Reuters) – Leading Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will be discharged in a few days from a Mumbai hospital where he was admitted after complaints of abdominal pain, a hospital official said on Sunday. Bachchan, who turned 66 on Saturday, was rushed to the hospital where he had undergone surgery in 2005 for an intestinal condition, and was placed under observation. “He’s had a restful night and the tests do not show any abnormality,” said Dr. Narendra Trivedi, the vice president of the hospital. “He has responded well to our line of treatment and will be discharged in a few days,” he said. Dozens of fans and reporters kept an overnight vigil outside the hospital for Bachchan, who had been shooting for Hindi film “Teen Patti” till Friday. His actor son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and daughter Shweta were with him in the hospital. (Reuters)

Wishing Amitabh Bachchan all the best!

The reports say he’s responding well to treatment. In fact this is what he’ll be looking like soon, walking out of that hospital!

From

Amitabh in Houston

I thought this was so exciting I had to copy it and share it here.

Head over to Amitabh Bachchan’s Blog to read all about his thoughts on the Houston show of The Unforgettable Tour.  In today’s post at Amit-ji’s blog, he writes about a time he lived in New York city,

I have lived in this metropolis in short spells, when I had taken a sabbatical. Walked the streets, bought my own grocery, parked the car in a garage and stepped out to my place of residence and got mugged. Twice actually. Once in the lobby of a 5 star Hotel. Lost everything. Money, passport, personal paperwork, letters of value from my father and my mother. Everything. And realized the importance of your own homeland. It is wretched when you are alone in foreign surroundings and have an emergency. Suddenly from admiration for the city, you are compelled down to the other extreme. (day 105, August 7, 2008)

Outrageous!  On behalf of the USA, I apologize to you Mr. Bachchan!  No one should ever get mugged, it is indeed wretched.  New Yorkers, I’m counting on you to look out for Big B and show him nothing but pyar.
